CHALLENGE:
Icalma, Huilo Huilo, and Cochamó Valley are relatively remote, protected areas situated in Chile’s renowned Lake District and Volcanoes region. The local communities have worked hard at preserving and conserving their land and culture while slowly opening up to sustainable tourism. The Chilean Tourism Board wants to attract more international travelers to this area who are responsible travelers and enjoy experiencing some of the new tourism products being offered, such as Community and Indigenous tourism, as well as adventure tourism (hiking, climbing, and mountain biking).
SOLUTION:
GLP created compelling stories for each region (along with three main pillar films, blog content, and social media content) to attract responsible, sustainable travelers who are interested in experiencing Indigenous and Community tourism, culture, gastronomy, and adventure travel.
Key Goals
HIGHLIGHT THE AREAS’ STORIES OF CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS.
ATTRACT MORE RESPONSIBLE, SUSTAINABLE TRAVELERS TO THE REGION.
SHINE A LIGHT ON LOCAL STEWARDSHIP AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP.

AZURE ROAD
🌋 Meet The Volcano Lady of Chile — Isabel Correa, a pioneer of sustainable tourism in Chile’s Araucanía region.
Nearly 30 years ago, Isabel followed the magnetic pull of Conguillío National Park and built La Baita, one of Chile’s first ecolodges. What began as a single cabin has grown into a model of community-rooted, low-impact tourism — blending hospitality with conservation and respect for Indigenous Mapuche traditions.
In her powerful story, written by our Content Editor Nicole Melancon for AzureRoad, Isabel shows what it means to build not just a lodge, but a legacy of stewardship.
