Details
Partner: The Interreg South Baltic Programme
Location: Pomorskie Region (Poland), Kretinga District (Lithuania), the Island of Öland (Sweden), Odsherred (Denmark), and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany)
Key Themes: Horse Tourism | Slow Travel | Off-Season Travel | Outdoor Recreation | Nature
CHALLENGE:
A key objective of the campaign is to challenge the perception that equestrian activities are reserved for the wealthy or for those with prior riding experience. Each destination is developing distinctive horse tourism products rooted in its local heritage, history, and landscapes. These offerings are designed not only to broaden appeal but also to extend tourism beyond the peak season and generate sustainable economic opportunities for small stable owners—the primary stakeholders in this initiative.
While each region already attracts visitors, their markets are largely local. This campaign aims to expand reach by targeting the German market, which is shared across all five destinations and presents the strongest growth potential for the horse tourism sector.
For visitors to the South Baltic region, horse tourism offers a fresh and meaningful way to engage with the landscape and culture. No matter their level of experience, there is a horse tourism activity for everyone.
