Love Your Team

I love my team. Each of them. Neither I, nor GLP, would not be here today without them. We complement each other. We listen. We critique. We strategize. We debate. We learn.
GLP was founded on February 22, 2008 and our core team is still together. It has been an amazing 12 years. We have been through so much. Together. Our business has changed and evolved a lot over the years. There have been some amazing highs. And, let’s be honest, we have had our share of lows too. But, fortunately for my team, we have all stuck together. And that resiliency, dedication and commitment to each other, the company and the sustainable tourism industry has been so rewarding for all of us. I could not be more proud.
Like everyone else, COVID-19 has changed how we do things. While a virtual work environment has always been our norm, we now connect and engage more than ever. And despite some future business being put on hold, the team has pivoted and rallied around being productive and optimistic, despite an unpredictable future in the travel industry. We are catching up on old projects. We are seeing how best to think differently, strategically and change our business, again. We are connecting more with existing partners and reaching out to new ones. But most importantly for me, the entire team has a self-renewed focus on our mission and long-term goals. We are getting ‘back to our roots’ via an intense focus and commitment to making a significant impact (and giving back) to travel and more specifically, sustainable tourism.
I appreciate everyone on our team and what each of them brings to the table. And during this challenging time, I fully support each of them as they focus on kids at home, juggle homeschooling demands, manage important and emotional family health struggles, plan upcoming weddings or meet their personal needs outside of work. I mean, let’s face it, work, home and personal life have all been mashed together during this crazy time. While I am not a perfect leader, I am trying to do my absolute best to help bring some positivity (and sanity) at work and at home, since work-life balance is just crucial these days.
People and relationships are central to my life. Now more than ever. And with care, support, appreciation and respect, those relationships thrive. So, love your team and everyone wins.
I love my team. And that is why I am so lucky. 💚
